OK Class - here we go!!!
Each group will create a blog designed around the Golden Monkey (aka the (blue) Snub Nosed Golden Monkey of China, endangered Guizhou golden monkey; Rhinopithecus brelichi). In your Blog you can place natural history information about the Golden Monkey, where they are found, information about their endangered species status, i.e., how did they become endangered, also information about efforts to help the Golden Monkey increase their numbers, what are people in the area doing to help conservation efforts. On Thursday during our field trip to the zoo, I want each of you to observe a primate enclosure (not Homo sapiens) for 20 minutes, make sure they are doing something - if the one you choose isn't active, go to another. Make sure to write down information about the primate, in other words, what is the common name, scientific name, where they are found, their IUCN status (threatened, endangered, etc.) and anything else interesting. Write down the behaviors that you observe during that time period. We will create another blog page for you to display your information from the primate observation for others to view, comment and add their own observations. I will be reading and assigning a grade to each of your blog posts, so make sure you are professional and respectful in your posts.
Happy blogging and learning about the Golden Monkey!!
